E-Book erstellen mit SIGIL

Es wird Sigil 0.7 verwendet.

Mit der freien Software SIGIL kann aus einer HTML-Datei leicht eine epub-Datei erstellt werden.

1. Der Text mit Bildern sollte als HTML-Format vorliegen.
   Wenn nicht kann aus Word oder aus dem Writer (LibreOffice/OpenOffice) der Text als HTML gespeichert werden. Word produziert dabei gewöhlich viel HTML-Müll. Daher die Einstellung "Webseite, gefiltert" benützen. Nach dem Speichern in Word sind die Bilder in einem extra Ordner zu finden. Im Text sind die Bilder nur verknüpft.
   
   Mein Text lag schon als HTML vor, aber ich musste die Tabellenformatierung und einige unnütze Links in der Datei löschen. Dazu habe ich das alte Adobe Golive 6.0 verwendet. Ich habe den gewünschten Text in eine neue Datei kopiert und als HTML gespeichert.
   Dreamweaver oder ein anderer HTML-Editor wäre auch gegangen.
2. SIGIL öffnen.
3. Zuerst die Bilder importieren! Werden die Bilder erst nachträglich importiert, kann SIGIL den Link auf die Bilder nicht einrichten. Siehe Tipp am Ende der Post.
   Dazu in SIGIL Menü Insert : File... klicken.
   Images wählen und den Bilderordner aud der Festplatte suchen.
   Alle Bilder wählen und in SIGIL importieren.
4. Die HTML-Datei importieren.
   In SIGIL unter dem Menü File : Add..
   Existing Files...
   wählen und die HTML-Datei auf der Festplatte suchen und einfügen.
5. Die überflüssige Datei Section 0001.html, die zu Beginn automatisch erstellt wurde, eventuell löschen.
6. Mit Menü Tools : Delete Unused Media Files.. können überflüssige Bilderdateien gelöscht werden. Aber Achtung siehe Tipp.
7. Mit Menü Tools : Table of Contents wird automatisch ein Inhaltsverzeichnis erstellt.
8. Mit Tools : Metadata Editor... können Informationen zu der epub-Datei beigefügt werden.
9. Zum Schluss wird mit Menü File : Save die epub-Datei erstellt.

Die Epub-Datei habe ich mit dem Programm calibre auf dem PC oder Mac angeschaut.

Tipp:
Nicht immer war der Link zu der Bilderdatei richtig gesetzt.
Um das zu reparieren ist das Werkzeug Menü Tools : Saved Searches nützlich.
In dem Fenster Saved Searches kann mit der rechten Maus und Add Entry eine neue Suche und Ersetzen eingerichtet werden. Es wird unter der Find der falsche Link, z.B. File:///d:/daten...
und unter Replace ../Images/ eingetragen.
Dann mit der Schaltfäche Replace All die Suche-Ersetzen durchführen.

MacBook Pro - System Restore from Time Machine

Harddisk of MacBook Pro 15 inch was broken.
Old Harddisk was a Hitachi 7K750-750 750 GB, 7.000 rpm.
7.000 rpm was to much without cooling!
Bought a new Samsung/Seagate ST1000LM024, only 5.000 rpm.
External Firewire Harddisk LaCie with Backup by Time Machine.

1. Plugin the external hardisk (firewire) with the Time Machine Backup
2. Start MacBook with new harddisk and press "ALT"
3. Choose the external harddisk
4. Application Disk utility
5. Restore the system from external harddisk
6. create new partition
7. Go with restore and chose the new partion
8. Restore (about 4 hours).

Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Device Cannot Start (Code 10)

Notebook: Lenovo R61
Type 7738
Operating System: Windows 7

Error: Ethernet is not working, Device manager shows inactive ethernet device.
"Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Device Cannot Start (Code 10)"

Solution:

1. de-install device in device manager
2. Turn the computer off.
3. Unplug the laptop.
4. Pull out the battery
5. Open the laptop lid and press the power button 11 times. 10 times normally and on the 11th, hold it for 15 seconds. This will clear the board of the excess charge the Lenovo's seem to build up.
6. Put the battery back in.
7. Plug the power back in.
8. Turn the system back on.
9. install the ethernet device

This is a bug of Lenovo or Intel.

Mac "The operation can't be completed because the item xxx is in use"

This error is in all Mac OS X Versions up to 10.7

Delete something in a Network Drive

It happens then I want to delete something from the network drive.
It turned out that the program Quicklook use the file.
This is the case then you use the finder in the cover view mode.
The file, in my case a picture,  is viewed with Quicklook.
Use the normal list mode and you can delete normally.

How to find out which program is using your file

Open the Terminal

lsof -l +L -R -V | grep "Name-of-the-file"

alternativelly you can use

lsof -l +L -R -V | grep /Volumes

in the case your file is on the network drive

Stopp using
Killall Finder

to stopp  Finder  to use the file

Remove with Terminal

sudo rm -rf "path-and-name-of-the-file"

drag and drop the file to the Terminal windows you get the correct path and name!

If you get this error deleting the trash

Simple solution

Right click the trash and use "Secure Empty Trash"
You find this also in the Finder, menue Finder, Secure Empty Trash

Mac Hardisk not Booting - partition map

Apple iMac (Mac OS X 10.4) is not booting.

1. Start iMac and press "T"
Connect by firewire cable to another Mac Computer (Mac OS 10.7).
Start "Disk utility" program.

"First Aid"
"Verify Disk"
"Repair Disk"

Error was found
"Problems were found with the partition map witch might prevent booting."

In my case the "First Aid" could not help.

2. I tried to boot the iMac with Disk Warrior (v.4).
But the repair program could not repair the hard disk.

3. I installed the Windows program "MacDrive" on PC Windows XP.
(5 day free test program)
Connect my Mac Harddisk to windows, with USB external hard disk device.
But MacDrive found error on harddisk and could not repair.

4. Found blog from "Broes"

I installed "TestDisk" on Mac (10.7).
Connect the hard disk with USB external hard disk device.
Tried to understand the program.
The program could not see the rotten hard disk.

5. Idea to use TestDrive on Windows Computer.
Connect the rotten hard disk by USB external device to Windows PC.
Suddenly the rotten Mac Hard disk is mapped.
I could copy all the data to another external hard disk.

Summary: I could not really understand the "repair" of the hard disk.

Windows 7 Volume Licence - Phone Activation

Windows 7 (32 bit und 64 bit, englisch) no online activation possible.
Error: 0xC004C020 "The activation server reported theta the Multiple Activation key has exceeded ist limit"

The phone activation was not shown in the tool.

Therefore start the activation tool by the "slui.exe 4" command.
